Last updated: July 2026

Welcome to AfricansAsk. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of africansask.com, including all content, features, and services offered on the platform (together, the "Service"). By creating an account, browsing, posting, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be old enough to legally use online platforms and enter into agreements in your country of residence to use AfricansAsk. If you're using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

By using the Service, you represent that you're not barred from using it under the laws of Canada, where AfricansAsk operates, or your own country's laws.

2. Your account

You're responsible for the security of your account and everything posted under it, including actions taken by anyone you've given access to your credentials. Keep your password secure and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

One person, one account. Don't create multiple accounts to manipulate votes, followers, or discussion, or to evade a suspension or ban. We reserve the right to merge, suspend, or remove accounts that violate this rule.

You're responsible for keeping your profile information accurate. Impersonating another person, brand, or organization is not permitted.

3. Content you post

You retain ownership of the questions, answers, comments, images, and other content you post ("User Content"). We don't claim ownership of it — but by posting, you're responsible for making sure you have the right to share it, and that it doesn't infringe on anyone else's rights.

Don't post content that you don't have the right to share — including copyrighted text, images, or media belonging to someone else, unless you have permission or the use qualifies as fair use under applicable law.

4. License you grant us

By posting User Content, you grant AfricansAsk a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and promote that content on and through the Service — for example, showing your answer to other users, featuring it in a category feed, or sharing an excerpt on our social channels to promote the platform.

This license lasts as long as your content remains on the Service. If you delete your content or account, the license ends, except where content has been shared or cached elsewhere by other users or search engines outside our control.

5. What's not allowed

The following are prohibited on AfricansAsk, without exception:

See our Acceptable Use Policy for full detail on community conduct, especially around the Politics & Governance category, where passionate debate is welcome but personal attacks are not.

6. Intellectual property

The AfricansAsk name, logo, design, and platform code are the property of AfricansAsk and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without written permission. User Content remains the property of the person who posted it, subject to the license described in Section 4.

If you believe content on AfricansAsk infringes your intellectual property rights, contact us via our Company page with details of the content and your claim, and we'll review it.

7. Moderation & enforcement

We may review, remove, or restrict visibility of content, and suspend or ban accounts, that violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy, at our discretion. We aim to be fair, proportionate, and consistent, but AfricansAsk is not a court of law — enforcement decisions are made by the team running the platform, and we won't always be able to explain every individual decision in detail.

Reported content is reviewed as promptly as our (currently small) team allows. We prioritize reports involving harassment, hate speech, and illegal content.

8. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms, prolonged inactivity, or if required by law. You may delete your account at any time via Settings. Some content you've posted may remain visible after deletion if it has been quoted, shared, or replied to by others, unless you request its removal.

9. Third-party links & services

AfricansAsk may link to or integrate with third-party services (for example, sharing a post to WhatsApp, Telegram, or Twitter/X). We're not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those third-party services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.

10. No warranty

AfricansAsk is provided "as is" and "as available." We work to keep the platform running reliably and to keep content accurate and safe, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access, and we're not liable for content posted by other users, including answers, opinions, or advice shared in categories like Tech & Money, Faith & Religion, or Dreams & Testimonies.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AfricansAsk and its operators won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data, loss of profits, or reputational harm, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold AfricansAsk harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada, where AfricansAsk is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will first be addressed informally by contacting us directly; if unresolved, disputes will be handled in accordance with applicable Canadian law.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms as the platform grows and as new features are introduced. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
